Woo Hoo - A week of holidays - sewing here I come

Does anyone else feel this way.

I'm lucky my children are now getting old enough and other than the obligatory
day trip to Adelaide for the Movie, shopping and spending of Birthday and Christmas Gift Cards.

I HAVE 5 DAYS OF SEWING SEWING SEWING

Cannot wait,

So many projects to finish, continue and start ;)

Surely I am not the only person that always have 10 or more projects on the go..

Have promised myself that I will finished 7 quilts this week
(one for me, the Hubby's, the kids, M&D's and MIL)
and that's a huge chuck of the "to finish" list.

They are all in various stages - most have the tops finished, one is binding only and one is pinned, partly quilted and I just need to get off my butt and finish the quilting then binding.

I am madly getting housework done this morning before opening Nays Place today from 2pm-6pm.

And just a reminder

SALE CONTINUES TILL
SUNDAY 1st MAY 2016.

Due to new stock arriving and no room for it - I have decided to continue the sale for the month of APRIL. Instore only.

Sale continues every Sunday finishing 6pm Sunday 1st May 2016....
Open every Sunday from 2pm - 6pm.

Fabrics from $10,$15 and $20 per metre. 20% off the rest of the store

30 Twigden Road Taylorville

I am still stitching the Splendid Sampler with Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson..
Slowly catching up - its a bugger when you run out of ink for your printer to download the PDF files

This is such a fantastic project and has a lot of techniques that I am not comfortable or confident with
and that's what I loving about it.  There are no time frames - you can choose what blocks you do and don't do - over 12 months there will be 100 blocks from 82 designers.
A few bonus blocks and projects along the way.

I also have started the Cottage Garden Threads Club for my third year - I do still have one place left.
I have included a little bonus to help the first project.
Due to an unforeseen cancellation I do still have 1 place left cost is AUD 26.00 per month which includes P&H within Australia. This is a 12 month commitment.

Spent a lovely day with fabric reps ordering fabrics due to arrive in June/July hopefully will have space for them.

The Wordsmith by Janet Clare

Have to love arrivals day
It's just like Christmas again and again and again

Love The Wordsmith by Janet Clare and Moda fabrics - delicate blossom amongst roses wheat and script fabrics team with some lovely tonal solids.

Not too girlie some masculine and a delightful blend of both - loving the colour range

$20 per metre and now to make room for it all. Looks like I will be adding more to the $10 per metre stands well enough to fit in another 36 bolts of fabric.

Another hot day - the air conditioner is on and the sale continues

It's a total fire ban today as we are forecast for 36 degrees.
So glad Nays Place has heating and cooling -
Happy to remind you that the $10 per metre sale continues as I really need to make room for the new season arrivals this will end next weekend Nov 1st.

Sale finishes end of October, loving the new arrivals and a reminder I am closed this Sunday the 18th Sept

My sale has been fun and I have met a lot of new people - sending items to Ireland,  Ipswich, Jamestown, Maitland and everywhere in-between.  I have decided to keep many of my $10 specials going for the month of October - these will be available on my big cartel store - with the new Summer season stock arriving I need to make more room.

Absolutely loving the new arrivals - first unpacked is Mon Ani by Basic Grey
All fabrics $18 per metre - whilst the Australian dollar is dropping the cost of fabrics have risen - will try and keep prices low but as they are costing me more eventually will have to increase prices.

I also stock over 25 Bella Solid colours and have included these in the sale.

Just a reminder I am closed this Sunday the 18th October as we are away this weekend.  The online shop is never closed as a I have mentioned if you get overcharged for the postage I will refund the difference- undercharged and I wear the difference.

Thanks for dropping by

Missing in Action but I have lots to share and Nays Place 1st SALE

Winter is coming to a close and we are heading into Summer - its forecast for 38 degrees C here on Saturday that's 100F for the overseas visitors in USA

As winter finished so did one lot of sport before we start with the summer sports.  Waikerie was lucky enough to have 4 teams in the local Aussie Rules Riverland Region Grand Finals, 7 teams in the Riverlands Hockeys Grand Finals and 1 team in the Riverland Netball Grand Finals - for a small country town where tradition still upholds that most things revolve around sports that is a phenomenal effort - we only have a population of approximately 3500 plus surroundings possibly 6000 people.  Most weekends see us travelling anywhere between 40kms to 180km (24 miles to 112 miles) for sport.  We walked away with 4 Premierships flags across all sports - Well Done us....

The kids are growing rapidly, the eldest now has his Learners permit, the middle starts high school in 4 months and the youngest is about to hit double digits - they are all growing so quickly sometimes so fast you miss the changes and wonder if they were every really kids.

Now Summer is coming and I get to slow down a little - I have managed to spend time on my garden and time getting Nays Place more stock yeah!!!.

Some new labels from Lilla Lotta just
U

After 4 years I have got my fruit tree orchard growing and my vegie patch planted and I'm having fun and cant wait to start picking produce - not sure that the kids have enjoyed it - being school holidays I have made them work.

Nays Place is open most Sundays - the only time I have closed is due to family occasions or when I have been sick.  I have been increasing my suppliers and are about to start ordering from some new suppliers - including Kaffe Fassett fabrics towards the end if the year.....love the brightness of his fabrics.

Saturday I will be at the Waikerie Markets with odds n sodds - no fabric bolts as these will be ready for the sale........DID I MENTION IM HAVING A SALE

So to kick start my Spring into Summer campaign - this long weekend I am having my first Sale.

Sunday 4th and Mon 5th October from 2PM - 6PM both days I will be having my sale.

Over 100 bolts and end of bolts for $10 per metre, selected widebacks $15 per metre, Jelly Rolls $38 each, Fat Quarter bundles from $40, patterns from $8.

I will also have a lot of dressmaking fabric for $3-5 each piece - this includes fleecy, kids cottons and vintage fabrics.

There is a video of the fabrics on my facebook page, pinterest and instagram page

Visa and Mastercard facilities available as well as Cash accepted off course

I will try and update the Facebook page as I go as well as the Big Cartel shop

Have been unpacking more and more stock - living the dream

A little bit of sewing

Stitch-a-long with Chooky Blue and Susan, fabrics and more

I have joined Chooky Blue and her friend Susan on their annual Stitch-a-long
It's needleturn applique
Something I am extremely BAD at
so it is a challenge for me
another challenge was using my fabric stash without
buying anymore.
I was lucky I had a 'scrap bag' of Fig Tree Fabrics and a
1/2 meter bundle lots of California Girl from Fig Tree

February's Blocks

March's Blocks

Going to be interesting - am a bit behind as co-rodinating poppies for Anzac Day
has taken a lot of my time but I had so much fun doing it.

So proud to achieve this with over 2500 poppies being knitted and crocheted for the day -
When I started the project back in Sept last year I thought I would be lucky for 500.

Have finished my Markets for the season - during Winter by weekends
are taken up with football and netball with the kids.

I love the yellow table and chairs bought from my local Mitre 10 -
everywhere I go the are used mostly by husbands and kids but I love the look.

More fabric arriving more jelly rolls and meterage.

Just to show a few

And some yummy brushed cottons (think pj's)
by Moda

I had some spare time one sunday and decided to start working on my entrance.
Amazing what some time and cans of spray paint can do.

So migraines aside I am opening Sundays from 2pm - 6pm
Other times by appointment
(sorry Saturday's are family day)

Dont forget you can always go shopping at

I always have fabrics and sales listed

Keep stitching and have fun

Holidays over what next

So 2 weeks ago I had lots of plans,
 tasks to get finished
and an idea of what I had to have finished
before I went back to work on Tuesday.

And how much did I achieve - almost nothing - seriously how did I get it so wrong.

So lets recall the plan
2 weeks off - 1st week no husband at home - get stuck into all the 'household' jobs
and then the 2nd week to start sewing....
mm great plan - didn't happen.

First day - got hubby ready to go with his family to scatter his dad's ashes over on the West Coast of South Australia - its been 12months since he has passed - not been easy at times and we all miss him (you all know how we feel)
Second Day - no hubby-kids at school - what did I do - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
 - spent the day simply relaxing, had a haircut, watched chic flicks -
felt guilty but goodness it was wonderful.
Third Day - went into the Princesses classroom and took a small group of cooks for a cooking session - today we made pancakes YUM - just in time for recess.  I don't get to help much during term so was only to happy to help when I can - a mix of boys and girls - it was great to hear all of them say that they have cooked before.  Then headed up river to help out a new staff member with some training that was troubling her - then spent 2 hrs shopping by myself.  AHHH PURE LUXURY
Fourth Day - OK so today I started with the housework - cleaning kids rooms etc etc
Fifth Day - Student Free Day for all the kids - so 3 kids at home - plans to go to Adelaide as my brother was flying out to Brazil tonight to realise a dream and go to the World Cup.  So the kids made a sign, decorated it and off we went - a quick trip to a few shops - meet DH at IKEA for dinner and some essential pickups and then on to the airport - it was great to surprise my  brother - he had no idea YEAH
The funniest thing about this photo - didn't realise how tall Mr I'm now 15 is getting.

Then it was the long weekend - DH and I tackled Mr 'I want to do everything' and the Princesses bedrooms - aarrrgghh and at 7pm we had had enough - almost there but not quite - now we just have to do some robe shopping or make them ourselves but in my mind I need to organise their rooms and anyone that knows me will know how funny that is because I was definitely not the neatest of kids but I don't think I was every that bad.
Sunday and the day of rest - I headed to Nays Place.  Had some lovely visitors in the morning - Michelle and Sandra came to check out Nays Place and almost 3 hours later they left - no sewing, quick cuppa and lots of talking later - it was fun.  The afternoon was spent doing more in Nays Place with a few phone calls for some orders.  Sorting out Grandma's fabric to try and work out what I am going to do with it all and decide do I actually want it or am I just keeping it because it was Grandma's

Monday and the start of another week - and I spent the day with the kids - watching movies, cooking just a fun family day and somehow I'm on to my second week and what have I done - not much.
Tuesday - todays the day - I decided that I had to finish at least one project - Last year I started on the BH&G crochet rug from their June 2013 issue.  I was asked if I could help people with knitting and crochet - I would love to - I'm not brilliant but know enough to get people started.
So I started crocheting lots of hexagons together - not finished yet but getting close - totally stuffed up the pattern was suppose to be rows of 8 and 9 - and I managed to do 9 & 10 - so not as square but more to wrap around you.
From the June 2013 issue
And my almost finished rug and yes I know I have some blocks together.

So how did I mange to go about this - well after laying them on the floor so many times in the end I just grabbed a pile and started crocheting them together - they are suppose to be sewn together but I was being lazy- but in the end I just grabbed a pile sewed them together and then put row upon row - 2 rows to go and then another row of cream ones to finish and the tassel's and them I'm finished.

Then on to Wednesday - another cooking session with the Princesses class - another group of kids and chocolate crackles this week.  We had promised Mr 15 almost driving a new bed - when I came in one day to find his size 11 feet hanging over the edge of his single bed  I decided that perhaps we should be upsizing - dragged him to the guest room and asked him to lay down on the double bed and yep that's ok until he turned over and those toes are still over the edge so queen size it is and what did he want a padded bedhead - why - cause I'm always leaning my pillow on the wall and I've seen how you can make them on all those reno shows - doesn't look that hard - unfortunately to buy the foam and fabric I was looking at a trip to Adelaide so instead went to a local shop - they had a sale and found one perfect for a growing lad.  Then DH and I made a bed base that will withstand a tornado and any amount of jumping shouldn't harm it.
Day 2 and it's messy already - should have guessed and yes he's waiting for his quilt to be finished ;)

Thursday a catch up with a friend for lunch and a quick trip to Lyrup/Paring to pick up some chooks from the Glenview Poultry farm -  6 hens have come home with me - I was a bit concerned their combs were very pale but guessed they probably got cold on the trip home.
It was a bit sad to see them come out of the cage I bought them home in - watch them spread their wings and all bar 1 overbalanced.  They really didn't know what to do - kept them in the a smaller area of our chook house for the first night then let them out the next day into the actual run - had to carry them out - cant imagine what life these hens have lead.  The cats have also been investigating and the chooks don't seem fazed by them at all - one bonus about being caged hens they are ok with people - the kids are picking them up all ok.
3 days later and we have eggs - not in the nesting boxes but in the straw -
we found 7 eggs today
yeah thanks hens

Saturday saw us head to Adelaide for my Uncles 50th - my mum's the oldest of 8 and he is the youngest - he was 3 when Mum and Dad got married, so it has always kept me amused being his niece and only 5 years younger.  We went to the Rezz Hotel at Newton  - great food, great company and a fantastic night - drove into the driveway at 2am this morning.

Sunday quiet day, nanny nap in the afternoon and finished the washing.

Tuesday back to work - oh well - some new products arrived during the week so will post some products during the week - check out this page or my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nays-Place/545715882174375
